Our “Introduction” Teams in our KinderBats level meet on weekends during April & May. Designed for Kindergarten-age girls who are all first-timers, players in this level are introduced to the Sport and the fundamentals of softball in fun, playful activities.
Our "Instructional" Level Teams typically begin around April 1 and are a combination of practice/clinics & games throughout April & May and possibly early June. Dates are mostly weeknights with Saturdays available depending on coach/player availability. Scores are not kept as the Players learn basics of the Sport and rules of the Game.
Our "Minor" Level Teams typically begin practice around March 1 (weather permitting) and play a 10-12 game season throughout April & May and possibly early June. Scores are kept although standings are not as the Teams begin to lay the foundation to compete.
Our "Junior" & "Senior" Level Teams begin practice around March 1 (weather permitting) and play a 10-12 game season throughout April & May. Scores and Standings are kept and the final week of the Season features a post-season Tournament with 1st Place trophies.
While Recreation Softball is for everyone, our Travel Division is separate and more competitive, with games played through June & July with light travel against Town teams from Bergen County. We have the opportunity to field teams at five different levels (age 8 and under, 3-4 grade, age 10 and under, age 12 and under & age 14 and under) depending on interest.
Games are on weeknights with additional practice times. Town Travel allows players who enjoy the sport to continue playing the game after the Rec Season ends without encountering expensive Club Team fees or travelling to far-away weekend tournaments. Since games are on weeknights, many Club Teams will encourage players to also play Town Travel to help create a better overall experience for all players.
Our Travel Teams play in Bergen County Girls Softball (BCGS), the area's longest running softball league. Teams are "flighted" based on ability and play a 12 game regular season plus post-season playoffs. Games begin in mid-June and the season ends no later than July 31. If you have a vacation planned, you are still welcome to play. Please just let us know of any plans so we can be sure the Team has enough players. Travel Team rosters are typically smaller than Rec Team rosters.
We typically hold a Parent Information Meeting shortly after Rec registration ends with more information for those interested. When you register your daughter for Rec, just indicate on the registration her interest in Travel and we will follow up. The sooner we can formalize team(s), the sooner teams may begin to practice.
There is a separate, minimal cost for Travel, which is a one-time seasonal fee and includes a full, personalized uniform.
Our goal is teams are constructed with an equal amount of experienced, returning, and first-time players. That said, we also believe Recreation Sports should be fun and Softball is more fun when you play with your friends. We can't honor all friend requests but will do our best to place friends on the same team.
