Travel Teams participate in the Bergen County Girls Softball (BCGS) league, which organizes divisions based on player age. Our program is able to form teams in four divisions, according to the level of interest: 9U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. Please note, we do not take part in the 8U division.
Each year, new rosters are created, and all players are required to attend a try-out. Returning players from the previous season are not guaranteed a spot on the current team's roster. In accordance with Town guidelines, players must be enrolled in at least the 3rd Grade to be eligible for a travel team roster and must also be registered on a current Recreation team.
The league determines age brackets using the current USSSA Age Chart. For the 2026 season, a player's age is based on their age as of August 31, 2025.
Try-outs and roster selections will begin with the oldest team. Players are permitted to attempt to “play up” into an older age group but cannot “play down” into a younger division. If a player is age-eligible, she may try out for a second team; for example, a 10U eligible player may try out for 12U, and if she does not earn a 12U roster spot, she may then try out for 10U.
All players are required to attend try-outs for their selected team. Once try-outs have concluded, additional players will not be considered for roster spots.
The try-out schedule will be posted online and also communicated to players through recreation team events. It is the responsibility of each player to attend the scheduled try-out.
If you have any questions regarding player age eligibility or any other travel team matters, please reach out to the Commissioner.
